Invention Commercial

In G.T this pass week or so, we were told to create an invention and make a commercial out of it. My teams invention was called flava-filter, it was a coffee filter that adds the cream and sugar for you and you don't have to go to the store and buy all that extra coffee creamer and sugar when it convientently comes with the flava-filter. My teams main goal for this project was just to complete it and have fun. To me, this was one of my favorite projects and one of my favorite results.

Working in a team requires getting along with people. Thankfully, my team was with people I'm comfterble with. While working in a team, you experience some funny, weird moments, or sad, irritated moments. Well, lets just forget about those bad moments and think about the good ones.  My team experienced many happy moments, and I think my favorite  moment was when we filmed Chazz the "showgirl". You know how you see those girls modeling with an object in their hand? well, thats exactly what chazz did. Not sure if he liked it or not, but it was super funny. At first he couldn't stay serious, but after a while he got used to it. "Man, I feel bad for all the girls that have to do this. This is some hard work" -Chazz ðŸ˜‚

Once again, my team was Me, Chazz, and Kaz. We all had a part to contribute to this production. I was more to the editing and filming side, chazz was an actor in some parts, and kaz helped with filming and did the voice overs. I did most of the filming because I am kinda self conscious and I absolutley HATE being on camera (I also hate the sound of my voice). Chazz and Kaz both seemed okay with their jobs and being filmed so that happened.

Scratch Game Design

(I have used the rarest pepe of them all (Triton pepe) for my freedom game)
When we first started coding, we started by using code.org and doing some simple code. After that, we began using scratch (another coding website) and began making our own games. Our first game we made was a chase game (A game where either the main sprite gets chased or vice versa) and our
second game was a platformer game. I think having a little experience with coding helped us because we understood most of the pieces of coding. Honestly, I could code for hours but I'd still fail.

The best features in my games would have to be my sprites. Well, they technically aren't my sprites but I like the ones I chose. For  my platformer game I drew it myself! (There wasn't much creativity or thought put in to my sprite. It's just a black box with a derpish face on it). To me, my platformer sprite was a lot better because it's custom and lots of people chose the ocean theme so whatevers.

My best code game was my chase game. It was the best one because I actually was able to get my sprite to move, to where my chase game I couldn't get it to move at all. For my chase game I couldn't get the "Chasers" to chase my sprite. I ended up fixing it by asking my friend for help and looked at his code for an example and it all worked out. For my platformer game the most complicated thing to do was getting the blocks that are supposed to fall... fall. I also couldn't get my stinking sprite to move at all!! (I still didn't fix that oops .-.)

Composition Scavenger Hunt

Recently in G.T we got in to teams of 3 and began 2 new projects. We finished one and that was our composition techniques video. Each team was assigned a different set of composition techniques and we all had to create a video using them all. To me, the most important composition technique is rule of thirds. I believe its the most important because rule of thirds can be used on almost every shot. Especially interview shots. It's more intersesting to place

To me, all composition techniques are quite easy. But the hardest one would have to be unusual angles. I mean, finding an unusual angle is pretty easy, but staying in that position might be complicated. Also, if you're shooting from a really unusual angle it might be hard to reach, or it could also be hazerdous to you and the camera.

My teammates are Kaz Espina and Charles McConnell (aka Chazz). Kaz is a cool kat considering his love for cats and Chazz is that kinda quiet video gamer type. During this whole project we all contributed to filming but Kaz did most of the filming and edting. For most of the project, Chazz was in Maine and missed a whole week in school :/.. But thankfully, we go the entire project done and got a good grade :).

Cracking the Code

So in our G.T class, we just learned how to code. It wasn't that extreme type of coding with like billions of numbers, it was simple coding using code.com. I learned that coding isn't that simple to do but you gotta start somewhere. I think everyone should learn how to code. Like what if all the coders suddenly wipe out and no one knows how to code? (I doubt that's possible but what IFFFF). Also, what if you don't land any of the jobs you want, computer coding could be another option. Some computer programing/coding offices are really cool.

My first experience with coding was in 7th grade. I'm not sure why it was in this class, but I  learned how to code in social studies. Working with code for the first time was pretty exciting, but it wasn't what I expected. I thought the coding we were doing had to do with millions and millions of numbers, but the coding website we used was pretty easy. The website we used was code.org and we did the hour of code.

If I could design my own program or game, I would make the most random game ever. It would probably not make any sense but I don't make much sense either so it's the perfect game for me. If I had to make a website or program that actually made sense it would probably be a program that can either help you with your homework or maybe a program that's full of a bunch of games that you can play on your free time.

My Humorus Monologue

So, we've started a new project and it's slowly coming to the end of the project. Through out this project I've learned some new things. Like pad, and how to do things in iMovie. Last year, we used a program called final cut pro which was a little different from iMovie. A couple new things I learned this year was in iMovie (sorry I keep saying iMovie). Anyways, I learned how to add transitions and text. I kinda knew how to do that before but now I for sure know. Next, I learned some filming techniques such as pad. I learned about pad last year but I completely forgot about it. I won't completely go in to the topic because that's what I'll be talking about next. Anyways, thats what I've learned so far this year :).

Like I was saying about pad, it's critical to have pad. I think it's critical because if you start filming or ending it early it could cut off what the person is saying. Not only does pad help with that it can help you in the editing process, like trimming a video can be easier. Let's just say padding is something crucial and helpful in the editing process and can possibly help improve your grade in G.T :3,

I have encountered my strength and weaknesses with this project. My weakness for this project was coming up with a joke. I had the hardest time coming up with a joke and that's one way my grade dropped for this project. Also, getting some of my B-Roll was hard because my parents were busy and I couldn't get to the places I needed to film. Lastly for my weaknesses was placing my B-Roll. I forgot about the sliding bar thingy that you could use to increase the viewing of your project. Now to my strengths. I didn't have many strengths with this project. I wasn't too familiar with some of the features in iMovie but I completed it. I could've improved with my project by planning what and where I was going to film but of course, I was being my forgetful self and forgot to plan.

Personal Manifesto

My name is Leilia. Some interesting facts about me? I'm actually not a very interesting person. I'm like your average person. I'd choose the each with friends and family over sitting at home or at the park reading a book. Iv'e only been out of the state once and when I left the state I went Anaheim, California (Disneyland!!) I have been off island for a week by myself for a Kamehameha Schools program. See, my life isn't that interesting right? Anyways, I've played soccer once and my team was almost undefeated the whole season! (and it was my first year).

Mistakes are proof were trying! Never give up, giving up gets you no where. Try your hardest at what your doing! You've come so far, there's no turning back now. Keep going and don't stop now. Try hard, better results. Move forwards and never turn back. If you don't like it, change it, don't punish yourself. Don't have time? Stop playing on your electronics. Treat others the way you wanna be treated. Be kind to one another. Strive to be the best YOU, don't try to be someone you're NOT.

My personal manifesto applies to my readers because never giving up can take you to so many places, it can get you to your goals. Most people say never to give up because giving up isn't the answer. Trying harder is the way to go! Many people have idols that
tell them to never give up, and that can mean a lot to a person. That is how my manifesto applies to my readers.

Music Videos Rock!

For this project, my team members are Logan Noble, Tyler Pagela, and Nathan Gardner. Each of have different rolls in contributing for this project, except the lip sync part we all have to take a part of that. I've been contributing to this project by doing the filming and providing our "music-playing-device". Logan has been staring in most of the shots so far, he's also helped film a little bit. Nathan has been the second person to do their lip sync, and he also helped film a small portion of this project.

In our music video, I think the audience would enjoy our bloopers the most. I didn't really like the song we picked for our music video because I didn't know the song. The audience would enjoy the bloopers the best because they're just really funny. The bloopers consist of Logan and Nathan. In one clip, logan is sitting down and just dancing! In another clip, Nathan just stands up and runs away (laughing emoji), it was supposes to be a part of the story for our video but we didn't end up using that scene so we used the fail clip as a blooper.

Our music video shows what we learned this year because through out the year, we were taught to use many different creative angles, and for our music video we used many different wide, meduim, and close shots. We also used the transitions and text screens. It also shows what we learned in photoshop (the title screen). For our title screen, in photoshop, we kerned our title, and added a bevel and emboss on it, as well as a drop shadow and gradient overlay with patterns.

Our Animation Story

Our focus statement tells our story because that's what the story is about. Our focus statement is "Cyberbullying Effects Tu" which was actually a true story. Cyberbullying is a big problem now because teens have more freedom and they have a large vocabulary of hateful words they probably were told before. Since cyberbullying is such a large problem we decided to let people know about it by telling a story that happened to one of our teammates.

Since our focus statement was "Cyberbullying Effects Tu" so the lesson was how the action of cyberbullying can lead to sometimes serious depression. We decided on the cyberbullying topic because many teens are being called names, and told mean things by anonymous internet users. Most parents and adults can't see what these people are doing online so we thought this would be a good topic. Were showing this to people through an animation, actually many different forms of animation. We used the programs, stykz and photoshop to animate. Next, we did a stop motion, and a whiteboard, then we put it all together using iMovie.

I think the worst part of the animation was deciding who does what. For example, Tyler and I were fighting over who does the storyboard, or who animates in stykz or who animates in photoshop. The best part was helping filming. I really enjoy using the cameras because I don't have a camera like the ones we have in school and it's a really great opportunity to use the canons. My second favorite part was just working with my team. Dylan is a really strong animator, Tessa is great at editing, Tu is an amazing actor and Tyler is good at writing the storyboard.

Typography Images

Typography is a picture of a face thats facing forwards (basically a portrait image), and the persons face covered in a bunch of words. Typography creates a long lasting impact because if you can read the words used it can tell a lot about the person in the portrait. The typography also looks really interesting. Typography images can create a long lasting effect on people because the words that cover the person tells a lot about them or about their past.

For me this project was really hard. I struggled with almost everything. The easiest part was taking my images. This project was really complicated for me. For our teacher typography, I really struggled. I couldn't get my mid tones, shadows and highlights even. I couldn't even get my highlights, mid tones, and shadows. I didn't complete my teacher project on time, but I did get my Innovator project in time. I was able to complete my project because I asked my friends for help. I think the part I had the most trouble was getting enough highlights. I barely had any on my teacher portrait. I needed to adjust my image quite a few times but after I adjusted it enough I finally got it right.

My first example of typography is of Marie Curie. The typography I did of Marie was really simple. The only thing I had trouble on this typography was. My second example is my teacher portrait. This one I had trouble on. As I said in my first paragraph I couldn't get my highlights and mid-tones even. I found out why my mid-tones were uneven and I solved that problem. But my teacher portrait isn't finished yet. My third typography of me wasn't as hard as my teacher typography. The only large problem I had for my ME portrait was changing the colors of my shadows.

Double Exposed Portraits

Portrait photography is when you take a picture of someones face or have them take a picture of your face. Portrait photography is kind of like profile picture because there bth a picture of your face or someone else. its just that a profile picture is the side of your face. It kinda relates to a silhouette too because a silhouette is an image of a person or an object and is filled with one solid color which is usually black. So to make a silhouette you need to start by taking a portrait first.

To make a double exposure in photoshop you need to go file>Scripts>Load Files into Stack, after you can resize your pictures, then you use the dodge tool to make your background white or you can add some textures. Next you crop your images 8 inches by 11 inches . When you have all of your pictures resized and cropped you can place the pictures where you want them to be. Next your going to turn on your blend modes. You click on the layer>Blend Mode> Screen (you can choose any blend mode , it doesn't have to be screen mode). Once your done with that you might have edges and your going to want to make it look like the images blend together, your going to take your eraser tool and give it a soft opacity to make it look like the images blend together.

In my exposed portrait, my symbols were a sunset and a picture of underwater. I chose the picture of a sunset because I enjoy watching sunsets and taking pictures of them, and I chose a picture of an underwater scene because I like using my Gopro at the beach, also I love the water its beautiful and like totally awesome. I think I could've used one picture that was an item or like an animal or something because in my final it looks like I have a pink body, and a blue head with a little bit of texture to it. To me it's pretty bad, I had a third image but we were only allowed to use two so I was stuck with a pink body and a blue head. My third symbol was going to be a wave crashing and it was taken horizontally so it was a strip of wave between the sunrise and my underwater symbols. Then I realized I was only allowed to have two symbols so I just have a blue head and a pink body with some trees by my neck.

Movie Trailer Crituqe

This project was kinda hard for me because I didn't communicate well with my teammates ( Ethan Garrison, Nathan Gardner, and Shanden Matsushima), so I ended up not being in the movie. Filming our movie was a bit difficult to because ours was an animation. We ended up using the green screen a lot. For our trailer plan we each worked on it, but I think Nathan worked on the trailer plan the most. I helped by getting the shots, setting up cameras and tripods, writing scripts, filming, and editing.

The project had requirements that were pretty easy to follow, but our team still failed to follow them all. The requirements were to have the entire trailer 1 minute and 30 seconds minimum  to 2 minutes maximum, a total of 5 scenes,  voice acting script, dialogue, foley,  had to be appropriate for all audiences, it needed to include dialogue and foley, and at the end our movie trailer poster. Our team got most of the requirements except for foley, and it wasn't to appropriate for all audiences.

Our class critique results were pretty bad. The creativity and requirements were really low, but the audience critique wasn't too bad. I agree with the critique results because our trailer was pretty bad. I've learned that I should help my team more. I also learned that I should communicate better with my team.

HDR Photography

HDR photography is multiple pictures taken at different exposure levels and are layered to make the exposure of the picture balanced. HDR means High Dynamic Range. I like HDR photography because it makes the pictures a bit nicer. Also, you can see some of the darker areas and if the sun is in the shot it doesn't washout the photo. Using the HDR setting on my phone helps me with my sunset or sunrise shots because I can see some of the mountain and the sun doesn't look like a huge flash and the colors look a bit more natural.

If you want to take an HDR photo, here's how. First you need to take your pictures, when you take the pictures you need to take them at different exposure levels (-3,-2,-1,0,+1,+2,+3). Once you get all of your pictures you need to open photoshop. File>Automate>Merge to HDR pro. Your going to wanna check the "Attempt to align" box. After your photos load, sometimes you can see these things called "Ghosts". Ghosts happen because your subject or something in your picture moved. You can click the "Attempt to remove ghosts" box. You can edit your photo to make it look surreal or true to life. Believe it or not, there is a difference between HDR on an Iphone and HDR that you take yourself. The difference between the two is that HDR on an Iphone has only three exposure levels. But when you take the pictures yourself it has seven or more exposure levels.

The thought process of my experiment was that I wanted to have a nice background but a nice portrait at the same time. So I tried my best to place her in one of the rule of thirds points. I put the word "dream" because I wasn't too sure on what word would work with her face. I made her bigger because it wasn't in the rule of thirds mark. The thought process of my landscape was that I wanted my coconut tree in it so I put the camera so I could see the tree and the part of the town too.

Movie Poster Promo

The main characters in the movie poster are Nathan, who plays Baymax, Ethen who plays Hiro, Shanden who plays Wasabi, and Leilia (me) who plays GoGo. Nathan will be doing a pose of him bent down trying to pick up a soccer ball because in the movie baymax attempts to pick up a soccer ball but fails to pick it up and just keeps kicking it forwards. Ethen who plays hiro will be just smiling and watching baymax tryna pick up the ball. Shanden who plays wasabi will be posing in a stance like hes about to slice someone. Leilia (me) who plays GoGo will be posing like I'm about to throw one of my disks.

My title is Big Hero 6. My poster has the actors names and who they play. For example: Leilia Panui as GoGo Tamago. I kerned my title and added layer effects. Kerning is adjusting the spacing between the letters and the distance between words. We use kerning because it  makes words more interesting to the eye, it makes words cooler.

The impact the layer effects and filters have a good impact. When my title was just words without layer effects and filters it was really boring. Once, I put layer effects and filters on my text it looked much better. It really poped out of the page, I added a drop shaddow and a color overlay. I also kerned my title.

Proactive or Procrastination?

I have to say I'm a little a bit of a proactive but I'm mostly a procrastinator, because depending on my mood I can be lazy, but I'm mostly proactive because I get lots of home work and there's lots for me to do at my house. Once in a while I'm a procrastinator because having all this work gets tiring and boring so I end up putting it of and doing it later.

I usually have lots of free time but I end up doing all my work at the last moment, I put my work of to the side because there's always something fun going on at my house. I don't wanna miss out on the stuff that happens at my house. So I usually have very little work time and lots of free time because I put off all of my work. Lots of my time usually goes to helping my family, or playing with my little cousins. That's why I don't have lots of productivity time.

I would change my work habits by learning to finish all my work first then going out to play or whatever.  I would change the amount of free time I have because I have so much free time and I just waste it. I don't really do much doing my free time I usually waste it on social media or tv. I'm going to star using my time wisely and use it to catch up on work.
